In 2018 the ESS and the ILL jointly inaugurated a collaborative European User Meeting, which has since been conducted biennially, alternating between each facility. These meetings provide the opportunity to review the achievements of the user community, present the current status of ILL and ESS and, most importantly, to look forward to the scientific opportunities ahead for neutron science. In 2022 the meeting was held in Lund, Sweden. This year’s event is scheduled for December 10-11 in Grenoble.
The event spans over two days, from lunchtime to lunchtime, featuring exclusively plenary sessions. Alongside scientific discussions on socially relevant topics, updates on the status of the ILL and ESS European neutron facilities will be presented, outlining their research capabilities and capacity within the current and future neutron eco-system.
A number of user workshops are taking place throughout the year at different venues and some are taking place on the same week as satellite workshops to the user meeting at Grenoble.
These events are organised independently from the user meeting itself but during registration for these events provisions are available to ease any accommodation constraints if applicable.
